![]() I can use my arrows and Enter key to move around the PS4 interface, but once I load a disc those keys don't work on the disc menu so I can't play a movie. I used the PS4 preset in the latest firmware version but not all the buttons I programmed are being recognized. I was hoping with the Flirc I could program another button to emulate a Blu-ray player and use the Playstation-style buttons on the remote. I've been using the Blu-link VP3700 for a few years now with my home theater we had been using a PS3 for our Blu-ray player and now I've moved on to a PS4 for that and so the dedicated PS3/Bluetooth button on that remote is now useless (it was never supposed to work with the PS4). Sorry to revive such an old thread but I was overjoyed to find a reference to my remote control! It's bothering me that it was working and then it just decided not to. I've tried wiping the configuration files in flirc, and I've tried programming my remote on a different PC in another room and on that PC it just didn't do anything at all. After a few tries the Flirc program started telling me that buttons were already programmed and doing things on it's own. then tried AUX and it wasn't working either, then DVR once more and again, not working. I installed the Flirc software and drivers, plugged it into my HTPC and proceeded to set up my remote for XBMC and, while at first it was working fine, when I got down to the media buttons on the remote (play, pause, fast foward ect.) they just weren't working so I thought that it might have been the device button I was programming the commands to (the DVR button), so I wiped it by entering the 9999 code and tried with the DVD/VCR button and it just didn't work at all. ![]() I've got a Blu-link VP3700 (and here is the manual for reference) I can keep using the same remote I've been using for years and it works perfectly.Just got my Flirc in the mail today and went to go set it up and I've been having all sorts of problems with it and my remote. Given that the support for the PS4 is limited (which is Sony's fault.not Logitechs.I have nothing against Logitech), it occurred to me that it was easier to return the $130 remote and simply plug a $20 IR dongle into the FireTV and be done with it. Technically it works, but functionality within different apps is spotty, at best. Unfortunately, controlling the PS4 is crap. Controlling the FireTV worked flawlessly. I figured that with the addition of the FireTV it was time to upgrade the remote, add support for Bluetooth devices, and be able to add in the PS4 along with the FireTV. I ordered a Logitech Harmony Companion which is their Hub (bluetooth+IR) and a paired remote. I have a PS4, which the remote does not work with, of course, plus the Fire TV. I use it to control a TV, AV receiver, PS3 (via Bluetooth-IR adapter), DVR, and old DVD player. Yeah, the Harmony I have been using for years is IR only. Other than the home button (which is a biggie), the rest of the Flirc/Harmony combo seems to work flawlessly.Īnyone know how to get the home button working? I don't know if that makes any difference, but if there is some other way that I should have added it as a device, please let me know. I ended up selecting 'Media Center PC' as a device type, and then 'Flirc' as the manufacturer, and typed in 'FireTV' for the 'model'. So I can navigate around and start apps and everything works normally (FF, Rewind, Play, Pause, etc.).but I can't get out of the app and get back to the home screen of the Fire TV.įor what it's worth (and if it matters), I wasn't sure how to add the Flirc as a device to my Harmony. The blue light flashes on the Fire TV to indicate that it has received a command, but nothing happens. The bottom line is that nothing happens when I hit the 'home' button on the Harmony. I mapped the 'home' function to a button, and even put it on it's own 'soft key' on the screen (I'm using a Harmony 770). I mapped all of the functions to what seems like the 'common sense' buttons (mapped DirectionLeft to the left direction button, etc.) Everything seems to work perfectly EXCEPT the 'home' function/button. ![]() I just plugged a Flirc IR receiver into our FireTV and configured it as a device on our Harmony remote. ![]()
